Air America Goes Silent
January 22nd 2010 03:45
This has really been a tough week for progressives. First Scott Brown pulled a huge shocker in winning Ted Kennedy's the people's seat in Massachusetts, then the Supreme Court gave an upper cut to McCain-Feingold, Nanci Pelosi announced that health care reform is dead, and just today Air America filed for bankruptcy.
Air America was supposed to be the great equalizer to right wing radio but really never came close to toppling Rush, Hannity, and Boortz. Even though conservative talk radio is still surviving, terrestial radio will soon be just a memory like 8 tracks. The future is XM/Sirius which is fine with me as long as the FTC doesn't start regulating it.
I would celebrate these small victories but honestly I've lost faith in both parties. The GOP only stands up for smaller government when they are in the minority. Until we have a viable third party(Libertatian, Constitution, or Tea Party) we won't see any real changes.
