Arctic Ice Then and Now
March 6th 2010 23:26
You would think from news reports that polar bears in the Arctic are clinging to the last few slivers of ice remaining in the circle. Actually the ice has been rebuilding the last few years and is near the area from thirty years ago when satellite records were first kept. The darker purple in the image shows the thicker ice so it looks to me like there is deeper ice now than in 1980.
