Bad Movies That I Love: Trick Or Treat
June 23rd 2009 04:48
This is the second in a ten part series
Wouldn't it be great if we could find some old LPs of dead rockers and have them destroy all of our enemies? Imagine Buddy Holly, Kurt Cobain, or even Janis Joplin appearing with supernatural powers just because we played a record backwards?
This is the premise of a cheesy 80's horror flick called Trick Or Treat. It stars Marc Price, who appeared in the sitcom Family Ties as Skippy. Price plays loser Eddie, a headbanger whose heavy metal hero, Sammi Curr, (the late Tony Fields) dies in a mysterious hotel fire. Grief stricken Eddie turns to local DJ Nuke(small cameo by Gene Simmons) who eventually gives him a rare Curr demo record. The fun and terror begins when Eddie starts communicating with the dead rock star.
The 80s metal band Fastway recorded every song on a great soundtrack. It along with Lost Boys and Dazed and Confused constitute my favorite soundtracks.
If you enjoy good satire and slasher films, be sure to check out this cult classic.
