Cablevision and Time Warner Playing Hard Ball

January 1st 2010 17:22
In yet another sign of the desperation of cable companies' who are facing more subscriber losses to satellite and internet TV, Cablevision is dropping popular channels Food Network and HGTV from its lineup. Earlier this week Time Warner announced that it had not reached a contract deal with Fox News and may delete it from its lineup. Cable giant Comcast has doubled its monthly cost in markets that have little or no competition to make up for losses in other areas.

You would think that they would become more customer friendly in the wake of a shrinking base. If they keep this up they will all become extinct even sooner than predicted.

I'm with you. I've always had a love/hate relationship with Comcast leaning toward hate. I don't know about satellite. I used to work for Dish and I REALLY don't recommend them from the things I know. My folks have had Direct-TV for the past en years with no problems. I don't think cable companies raising prices and moving popular channels to more costly tiers is the way to go.

Time Warner deserves all that is bad for their business. They are the WORST.
