FOX's Next Animated Hit: Bob's Burgers
January 10th 2011 02:15
Many believe that the sole reason for the existence of the FOX broadcasting network is The Simpsons. The longest running sitcom in television history has been going strong since 1989. For 22 seasons, FOX could depend on Homer to deliver laughs along with as revenue.
It seems that FOX has been trying to recreate the magic that the Simpsons have provided. Some shows like King Of The Hill and Family Guy have proven to be winners, while others have come and gone.
List of FOX's animated series since 1989:
Bobby's World (1990-1998)
Tom & Jerry Kids (1990–1994, Partially)
Droopy, Master Detective (1994–1995, Also Partially)
Batman: The Animated Series (1992–1993)
Eek! The Cat (1992–1997)
The Terrible Thunderlizards (1993–1997)
The Tick (1994–1996)
X-Men: The Animated Series (1994–1995)
Life With Louie (1994–1998)
Klutter (1995–1996)
The Critic (1995)
King of the Hill (1997–2009)
Family Guy (1999–2002, 2005–present)
The PJs (1999–2000)
Futurama (1999–2003, 2010–present)
American Dad! (2005–present)
Sit Down, Shut Up (2009)
The Cleveland Show (2009–present)
The newest attempt is Bob's Burgers, a show according to the writers about "a man, his family, and their floundering burger joint.
The show centers on a family that runs a hamburger restaurant. Loren Bouchard stated Bob's Burgers came out of the fact that Fox's animation brand centers mostly on family, but that he also wanted to dabble in workplace comedy. The show is said to fill the void created by the cancellation of King of the Hill, which executive producer Jim Dauterive worked on for nearly its entire run.
Cast:
H. Jon Benjamin as Bob Belcher
John Roberts as Linda Belcher
Kristen Schaal as Louise Belcher
Eugene Mirman as Gene Belcher
Dan Mintz as Tina Belcher
Critics have been lukewarm to the new show and most are taking a wait and see approach.
I didn't much care for the pilot but I'm willing to give it another try as I thing it is a decent idea with plenty of chances if the writers are up to the challenge.
