Landline phones was one of the 12 obsolete gadgets from the last decade. MagicJack, the little device that connects phone service via a high speed connection, is one of the reasons for the death of plugged service. Now MagicJack may be responsible for another death, your high cell phone bill.
MagicJack CEO and founder Dan Borislow holds up the new and improved MagicJack at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010. The company behind the MagicJack, the cheap Internet phone gadget heavily promoted on TV, has made a new version of the device that allows free calls from cell phones in the home.

Femtocells now offers cell phone service for $1.70 a month with MagicJack! That's just $19.95 a year. $19.95 a year! MagicJack's femtocell works with mobile phones "potentially" from any carrier, though only GSM is mentioned. Apparently just coming within eight feet connects your phone to the femtocell, after which you can supposedly travel anywhere you like in the house. Calls through the femtocell won't use your minutes. Replace your phone company or get a second line, with MagicJack!
