Kraken Breaks Into Petascale
October 6th 2009 21:37
The University of Tennessee's supercomputer has accomplished something that no other academic computer has ever done. The computer known as Kraken has reached the petascale milestone by processing 1,000 trillion bits of information per second! Kraken is the result of a 65 million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation and is providing 25 full time jobs as well as hundreds of research projects. Congratulations to my home town school for the awesome accomplishment.
