More Bad News For Global Warmers
January 1st 2010 17:33
As if Climategate wasn't bad enough for followers of the religion of global warming, a new study concludes that fewer human CO2 emissions than thought stays in the atmosphere and that there has been no increase in atmospheric CO2 for the last 150 years. Thats means that any warming can not be contributed to people during this time.
Like I have always said, we need to take better care of the Earth, but people like Al Gore and the UN are more interested in creating power for themselves and implementing a global tax. Neither will help the environment. The answer as always is to think globally but act locally.

Oh, and of course this will be completely free, without the need to financially burden anyone.
If you are convinced warming is a hoax, well, I'm probably not going to change your mind. Having grown up an in immense polluted city, I'm all for anything that helps cut pollution.
Yes, because having a huge amount of nuclear waste that will be around for thousands of years is a much better option. Totally.

And who did the study that found carbon dioxide hasn't increased in the atmosphere? Was it the same group who stated (wrongly) that there has been no global warming in the last decade?
Last spring (in Victoria, Australia) we had a heat wave that broke all previous records.

Some say they have record heat, yet some are getting record cold temperatures. People tend to forget that the earth's temperature dropped 2 degrees F. in the 1800s that were marked by killer frosts in July, thus causing a famine.

I have no problem with nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. It wouldn't be a bad idea for us to have it, in fact. But to allow rogue states to develop nuclear technology under the guise of "peaceful purposes" when they are clearly determined to cause damage and equally clearly don't give a rats behind about their people, is insane.

Spot on. While The Day After Tomorrow is an awful movie, it does make a good point about the effect climate change will have on England. When you think about it, the UK is on the same latitude as Siberia. What keeps it warm is the gulfstream, the current of warm air which is caused by very specific levels of salinity in the ocean. When the ice caps melt (I hope they don't.. but I expect they will), that balance will be thrown off, and England will literally freeze.
S.L., yes, Climate change has been happening since the dawn of time. Even if you ignore CO2 emissions, surely you can agree that deforestation would have an effect on the atmosphere? Seeing as how trees are the whole reason we have oxygen on the planet in the first place, and now we're just cutting them all down like there's no tomorrow? Couple that with emissions (which probably wouldn't matter if there were more trees), and I think it's pretty undeniable that we are having a profound effect on the Earth's climate.

I'm all for common sense. Clear cutting is just plain stupid because it causes erosion and a variety of other problems. However, clearing one's own land is not only good for the landowner but the environment as well. The "environmental-cases" in Lake Tahoe, California, forbade people to clear out brush near their homes. Said they wanted to keep the area "pristine".
When a fire tore through the area, the homes were lost, of course. But the environmental-cases didn't expect the long term damage it caused. The bare land eroded and filled Lake Tahoe with mud and muck that did more damage to the environment than clearing the brush could have ever done.
By the way, all plants release oxygen... not just trees.

Personally I'm a skeptic in that I think scientists should be producing figures to show we haven't passed the climate change trigger.
