More Bad News For Global Warmers

January 1st 2010 17:33
As if Climategate wasn't bad enough for followers of the religion of global warming, a new study concludes that fewer human CO2 emissions than thought stays in the atmosphere and that there has been no increase in atmospheric CO2 for the last 150 years. Thats means that any warming can not be contributed to people during this time.

Like I have always said, we need to take better care of the Earth, but people like Al Gore and the UN are more interested in creating power for themselves and implementing a global tax. Neither will help the environment. The answer as always is to think globally but act locally.

Right on. Don't surrender to the British Empire and Prince Charles. At the Copenhagen Conference they got it right, thanks to China and India, with no binding agreement. If you want a better environment, back the South Korea enthusiasm for new nuclear power plants.

Oh, and of course this will be completely free, without the need to financially burden anyone.

If you are convinced warming is a hoax, well, I'm probably not going to change your mind. Having grown up an in immense polluted city, I'm all for anything that helps cut pollution.

If you want a better environment, back the South Korea enthusiasm for new nuclear power plants.

Yes, because having a huge amount of nuclear waste that will be around for thousands of years is a much better option. Totally.

And you'd back France's enthusiasm for nuclear power, despite 400 hundred leaks at their plants last year? Of course most were safe leaks.

And who did the study that found carbon dioxide hasn't increased in the atmosphere? Was it the same group who stated (wrongly) that there has been no global warming in the last decade?

Last spring (in Victoria, Australia) we had a heat wave that broke all previous records.

I've been stressing that global warming is not man made. Since the US lost most of its factories and manufacturing jobsCO2 pollutants have dropped. Cars burn cleaner fuel since they replaced clunkers of the 60s-80s. The air is cleaner, yet there is still global warming from CO2 emissions!

Some say they have record heat, yet some are getting record cold temperatures. People tend to forget that the earth's temperature dropped 2 degrees F. in the 1800s that were marked by killer frosts in July, thus causing a famine.

For the love of god would someone please explain the difference between climate and weather to these so called skeptics?

The terminology isn't global warming, it's climate change. That's why we've had more erratic weather, not just heat waves. Huge hurricanes, cold snaps (like the ones in the US and across Europe) and heat waves (like the ones w've had here in Australia) are the weaher changes. It isn't exclusively warming. And surely it would have been better if governments used the Copenhagen summit to come to a binding agreement that was better than lets allow the Earth to become 2 degrees more fucked up than it already is. A fair agreement for all, reducing the US, China, India and the other major polluters could have made a difference but it's hard to swallow that it's all a hoax.

Nice to hear another voice of reason! Everything in the geologic record and in recorded history proves that warming and cooling are natural and have been going on since the dawn of time. In the 70's the hysteria that made millions was about Glo-bull Cooling!

I have no problem with nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. It wouldn't be a bad idea for us to have it, in fact. But to allow rogue states to develop nuclear technology under the guise of "peaceful purposes" when they are clearly determined to cause damage and equally clearly don't give a rats behind about their people, is insane.

Glad to see you're still floating around S.L.!

The terminology isn't global warming, it's climate change.

Spot on. While The Day After Tomorrow is an awful movie, it does make a good point about the effect climate change will have on England. When you think about it, the UK is on the same latitude as Siberia. What keeps it warm is the gulfstream, the current of warm air which is caused by very specific levels of salinity in the ocean. When the ice caps melt (I hope they don't.. but I expect they will), that balance will be thrown off, and England will literally freeze.

S.L., yes, Climate change has been happening since the dawn of time. Even if you ignore CO2 emissions, surely you can agree that deforestation would have an effect on the atmosphere? Seeing as how trees are the whole reason we have oxygen on the planet in the first place, and now we're just cutting them all down like there's no tomorrow? Couple that with emissions (which probably wouldn't matter if there were more trees), and I think it's pretty undeniable that we are having a profound effect on the Earth's climate.

Even the experts don't agree that the ice caps will melt according t algores schedule, Someone. Surely you've heard about the stone age village that was found under the English Channel? That proves that the sea levels have been higher and lower than they are right now. The CO2 that the alarmists keep whining about has been much higher in the past (long before anything of human design could have mattered).

I'm all for common sense. Clear cutting is just plain stupid because it causes erosion and a variety of other problems. However, clearing one's own land is not only good for the landowner but the environment as well. The "environmental-cases" in Lake Tahoe, California, forbade people to clear out brush near their homes. Said they wanted to keep the area "pristine".
When a fire tore through the area, the homes were lost, of course. But the environmental-cases didn't expect the long term damage it caused. The bare land eroded and filled Lake Tahoe with mud and muck that did more damage to the environment than clearing the brush could have ever done.

By the way, all plants release oxygen... not just trees.

All of you people going crazy over the multi-billionaires and their PR science fiction better get it straight. You have been turned into the cheer leaders for dictatorship, genocide and the British Empire. Why not yell, for the environment (everything) kill the extra commoners and surrender to the Queen, the bankers and the Empire. Down with the impudent American Revolution!!! (You have been recruited to the enemy.)

I only know that Greenland was once green, and that if the Gulf Stream is stopped by the warm current coming down the east coast of Greenland then Europe will freeze. The current from Greenland is warmed by the appropriate climate cycle. According to Earl de Blonville who led five expeditions to Greenland since the early 1980's the Gulf Stream stopped flowing for three days.

Personally I'm a skeptic in that I think scientists should be producing figures to show we haven't passed the climate change trigger.

Continuing from above, the three interlude for the Gulf Stream occurred in 2007.
