Movies That Scare The Hell Out Of Me: Haute Tension
October 17th 2009 01:49
This is the second in a ten part series.
Depending on what country you live in this 2003 classic may be called "Haute Tension, "High Tension", or "Switchblade Romance". No matter the title one thing is certain this is an incredibly violent well written film with some incredible effects.
The story begins with Marie traveling to her college friend Alexia parent's house in the country. That night Marie hears a knock at the front door and becomes a witness to a brutal murder of Alexia's father. Marie hides in a closet while the killer sytematically kills everyone but Alexia, who has been chained to her bed.
Alexia is dragged to the killer's truck and Marie, who has found a knife, hides in the truck as the truck speeds off into the darkness where the terror and bodies pile up through the night.
The greatness of the film is its original writing and nonstop action and terror. We get to see that Marie is much more than a stereotypical female victim running helpless in high heels from a maniac.
