Movies That Scare The Hell Out Of Me
October 15th 2009 01:26
This is the first of a ten part series.
1987's Prince of Darkness is part of writer/director John Carpenter's "apocalyptic trilogy" that also included cult classics "In The Mouth Of Madness" and "The Thing". Carpenter taps horror regulars Victor Wong and Donald Pleasence along with Simon and Simon star Jameson Parker playing a physics student and Alice Cooper playing pretty much himself.
Even today the film stands out as one of the more original horror films. A group of physics students and their professor(Wong) travel to meet a priest(Pleasence) in a deserted church that has a mysterious canister in the basement that might be a holding tank for the Devil. Science meets religion as the students begin having the same recurring dream while working at the church.
The special effects are a little dated but it should still give you a good scare. Set your DVR to record it on Cinemax on October the 25th.

Film & TV on DVD
After the carpenter Big Guns (Halloween and The Thing) Into the Mouth of Madness is my favourite.
i didn't mind Prince of Darkness but found it a little clunky compared to carpenters gems with few genuine scares...more comedy than horror I thought...
Looking forward to the rest...
