New York may have the most famous New Year's celebrations but that doesn't mean that it has the only party. I've found some other places that have "drops" to help countdown to the new year.
1) The Pickle Drop Mt Olive, NC
2) The Peep Drop Bethlehem, PA
3) The Moonpie Drop Mobile, AL
4) The Guitar Drop Nashville, TN
5) The Possum Drop Brasstown, NC
I'm thinking of picking a different city each year to celebrate, preferably one with a silly drop ritual.
Some other cities that have specific celebrations:
•Acorn - Raleigh, N.C.
•Car - Carlisle, Pa.
•Carp - Prairie du Chien, Wis.
•Orange - Miami (rises instead of drops)
.•Peach - Atlanta
•Pine Cone - Flagstaff, Ariz.
•Popcorn ball - Marion, Ohio
•Strawberry - Harrisburg, Pa.
•Wrench - Mechanicsburg, Pa.
