Plastic Logic Que E-Reader vs Amazon Kindle
January 7th 2010 22:29
I thought e-readers would be huge one day, but I had no idea how fast they would grow. More people downloaded books from Amazon this Christmas than ordered paper books.
For almost two years Amazon's Kindle has owned the overwhelming majority of e-reader downloads. That is changing seemingly by the day as Sony introduced their Nook e-reader recently and just today Plastic Logic finally unveiled the long talked about Que.
The biggest differences that I have read about is that the Que has more memory, is video capable, has a plastic screen as opposed to the Kindle's glass one, and a heftier price tag. The Que retails for 799 dollars, triple the lower end Kindle and 200 more than the Kindle DX.
Barnes and Noble stores will stock the Que and their website will serve as the go to place for downloads. Look for them in early April.
I think the price of these go down by as much as half in the later part of the year. My advice is to wait for other competitors and the market to work its magic on prices.
