Ranking The Pixar Films
October 10th 2009 02:12
I noticed that Amazon has ranked 1-10 the Pixar films. They did such a poor jo in their rankings that I felt the need to run a correction for them. This is without a doubt the correct order.
10) Wall-E (should be called Bore-E)
9) A Bug's Life (the only one that I have only seen once)
8) The Incredibles (nice concept but slow going)
7) Toy Story 2 (can't touch the original should not have been made)
6) UP (dark and depressing)
5) Cars (really like this one weak story but great characters)
4) Toy Story (good buddy movie)
3)Ratatouille (good story kudos for giving a shoutout to rats)
2)Monsters Inc. (funny with great writing)
1)Finding Nemo (not just the best Pixar film but one of my favorite all time films)

I can't say I agree with your rankings but agree that Pixar make some ageless films that are visually stunning.
Here is my Top 10
1. Wall-E (One of the greatest animated journey's of emotion that I have ever taken - From my own review of the film "A marvel of pure visual storytelling harking back to the days of cinemas golden age, there is a nickelodeon pantomime quality to the characters that reminds the viewer of iconic silent comedians like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. Setting this tone against a state of the art digital future makes for a charming and often dazzling cinema experience." - if your interested you can read teh full review by clicking HERE)
2. The Incredibles (Love the Watchmen style real world comedy of this comic book bonanza.
3. Up (Charming example of how a simple tale can be spellbinding)
4. Toy Story (Channelled my childhood imagination and was a technology revolution upon release.)
5. Toy Story 2 (A sequel that manages to match the original while catering to the geekboy in me)
6. Monsters Inc (Arguably the funniest Pixar film and a clever lesson in teh psychology of perceived fear.)
7. Ratatouille (Brilliant execution of what sounded like a dull premise, there is energy here and wit that makes it one to grow with.)
8. Finding Nemo (I did enjoy this one on a shallow leveel but it is the most kiddie friendly of all the Pixar films. This one looked fantastic but had little going within the story. In the end the happy ending was tedious to sit through.)
9. A Bug's Life (It lacked the wit and depth of ANTZ, but still had an entertaining reworking of the Seven Samurai story)
10. Cars(Certainly the weakest effort so far, it just lacked anything special beyond the surface. Still i did enjoy it, but hey Im a gearhead.)
