Should Anonymous Bloggers Be Outed?

Many bloggers enjoy being able to call out politicians and sports figures while at the same time enjoying the safety of scrutiny by living behind a mask.
The National Review's Ed Whelan has exposed an anonymous blogger who had been "biting at my ankles for months."
I use both types of blogs, but generally only write anonymously when I am griping about work or my personal life.

I generally support being able to protect your identity while expressing first amendment rights, but there also needs to be an avenue for those who have been wrongly portrayed.

In terms of orble I think as James said, the only purpose they serve is to allow a forum for slagging someone off without consequence.
