I admit it, I'm an information junkie. I always try to stay up with the latest news of the day. Sirius XM radio helps with my addiction, especially to some of the out of the way places that I have to travel to on a daily basis.
Recently however, I've discovered that there is more to satellite radio than headline news and talk radio.
Channel 117 is book radio and has become one of my presets. Not only can you take in a novel during a cross country drive but also check out a piece of nostalgia from what many believed was a lost era.
For many people old time radio meant one thing, to huddle around the radio for weekly drama episodes like Little Orphan Annie and The Shadow.
Jim French is bringing that tradition back with his live performances of Harry Nile.
Harry is a 50's era private investigator who with the help of regulars always catches the bad guys in thirty action filled minutes. To people not used to this type of radio it can be a bit cheesy in the beginning with the snappy dialogue and silly special effects. Give it a chance though and soon your imagination will take off and fill in the missing visual images and make your commute so much more adventorous.
