Whoever said that you couldn't put a value on a human life has just been proven wrong. The NIH in Britain has devised a formula to distinguish whether patients can receive medication to extend their life or if they get nothing more than comfort medication. Twenty-two thousand could mean the difference in an extra year with loved ones or to help get your financial affairs in order. In an one payer system the government gets to decide who gets medicine and who doesn't. You would think that patients and doctors should have a say in treatment options.
