Twitterer's Tweet May Mean Ten Years In Jail
May 29th 2009 02:33
Jean Ramses Anleu Fernandez generally talked about his book club and his love of books on his blog and Twitter. Earlier this month, the soft spoken IT professional, was arrested for a "tweet" that spoke harshly of Guatemalan President Álvaro Colom and his role in the banking crisis and possible assassination of a local attorney. He has already been fined an equivalent of a year's salary and could face up to ten years in prison. That is a steep penalty for a 96 word rant.
