You’re Not Going to be a Professional Blogger, Regardless of What the Wall Street Journal Tells You
June 18th 2009 13:46
Interesting column by Jake Seliger on how difficult it is for an non big media blogger to make a living blogging. I've been a blogger for years and never had the impression that I would make a living doing it. To me it's more about free speech and taking pride in controlling what goes on my blog that keeps me excited about my work. Many times I will see or hear something during the day and can't wait to sit down and blog about it that evening.
I think there are far more bloggers like me than those that want to get rich on their writings. You can't put the time and effort in day after day if you don't love the challenge.

Hmmmm, I don't know about that. Just this morning on another site someone was claiming they make $2,500 (US) a month, and hope to make 5K a month by the holidays. That would be a living for me!
I also disagree that all successful bloggers are "big media." That is just the Rich Man trying to keep us all down. I have worked for Corporate Media, they don't pay any better than anyone else, and they are the ones making money off writers. If you chose to blog for leisure instead of money, that's another thing.
